How old is Bristol Mountain?
Bristol Mountain was established in 1964 after the land was bought in South Bristol, New York by Fred Sarkis. 50 of 360 acres (1.5 km2) was cleared, the base lodge built for the December 12 opening. Snowmaking capabilities and a new lift were added in 1965.

Bristol lies within a limestone area running from the Mendip Hills in the south to the Cotswolds in the northeast. The rivers Avon and Frome cut through the limestone to the underlying clay, creating Bristol’s characteristically hilly landscape.
