Why are comic book sales declining?
Year-over-year sales in 2020 saw a 19.7% decline for print single-issues. Although the decrease in sales can be attributed to the pandemic, the overall trend for print single-issues has been downward for the better part of a decade.
Do graded comics go up in value?
In most cases, a comic will have increased dramatically (not diminished) in value over the course of time it takes to get graded, but big-dollar collectibles can only become liquid assets if you can sell them.
Is getting a comic graded worth it?
If your modern comic looks like a 9.6 or worse, then chances are that it isn’t worth sending to get graded. You would need to get a 9.8 from CGC on most newer books to make them worth your time and money. There are exceptions to this rule (see our next tip).

I typically go to guys who have mixed boxes of comics at 50 cents each, and ask for a price per long box (my choice). The usual price is $50-$100 per box, depending on the age, and quality of the material. Even at $100 a long box, your per unit cost is still under 35 cents per comic.
