Can I pay cash on bus TfL?
It costs £24 million a year to accept cash on London’s buses. The removal of cash fares will deliver £130m savings to 2022/23 and this will be reinvested in improving transport in the capital. Cash fares will not be accepted from 04:30 on Sunday 6 July, the start of TfL’s next fare charging period.

Can you pay with card on buses UK?

What happens if you don’t tap out with contactless?
If you don’t touch in and out, we can’t tell where you’ve travelled from or to, so your journey will be incomplete. Maximum fares don’t count towards capping.
School Bus & Mini Bus ‐ Most alarm systems in a school bus or a mini bus will have a single “reset button” that is installed. The reset button is usually located above the back row of seats so the driver walks to the back of the bus (and checks for children) to reset the alarm.
How do you end a bus?
Pull the signal cord when your stop is close.
To communicate your stop to the bus driver, be sure to pull the signal cord that’s located just above the bus windows. Do this about 1 block before your stop.

Tap On, Tap Off with a contactless payment card is by far the most convenient way to pay for your travel. Simply tap on at the start of each journey and tap off as you leave the bus. Did you know you can tap off just before the bus reaches your stop rather than wait for the bus to stop completely?
How can I use my debit card as a bus?
How do I use my contactless bank card for transit? Please take out your contactless bank card from your bag or wallet and tap on the fare reader at the train gantry or on the bus at the points of boarding and alighting. The fare reader will display “Bank Card Usage”.

A travel card can be on one phone at a time. To use a travel card on another phone, you must remove it from the current phone. Once it’s removed, you can activate it on a different phone that is signed in to your Google Account.
Is it better to use an Oyster card or contactless?
A contactless visitor Oyster card is excellent for pay as you go travel as fares are capped. This means this may cost less than a physical ticket. However, a standard contactless card will offer the same benefits. However, the visitor Oyster card is perhaps best used by tourists from foreign countries.
Do I need an Oyster card?
Yes, each person travelling needs their own Oyster card, Travelcard or contactless payment card. If you are coming to London in a group of 10 or more people who plan to travel around the capital together, you can buy a Group Day Travelcard*.
Is it cheaper to use Oyster or contactless?
It’s the easiest and most convenient way to pay, is supported on every form of transport, and in most cases is either cheaper or the same price as using an Oyster card.
