Why is Pentwyn leisure Centre closed?
The centre closed in March 2020, when the pandemic hit, but it has performed two temporary functions over the last two years. The centre was first utilised by Cardiff Rugby in early summer of 2020 with the squad using the facilities to train while Cardiff Arms Park was unavailable to use.

The council agreed in February 2021 to spend £5 million redeveloping the centre with a new pool, cafe, gym and other improvements. Outside they promised to build new pitches. The new plans would see the Cardiff Blues take over the running of the building replacing Better Leisure.

Despite being a much loved venue, Sedgemoor District Council couldn’t afford to modernise Sedgemoor Splash and announced its closure. Petitions were signed, hundreds of protesters gathered outside the centre and there were rumours of a 11th hour bid to save the popular swimming centre.

Swimming during your period isn’t a problem. However, you will want to use a tampon when swimming so you don’t bleed on your swimsuit. Pads won’t work and will just fill with water. The tampon won’t fall out if it is inserted correctly, so go ahead and make a splash!
