ROUTES: The Hovercraft runs several times each day between Ryde and Portsmouth. RULES: Pets must be carried in an approved pet carriers or restrained by a harness/collar and lead whilst on board, and kept on the floor in passenger area, not on the passenger seats.
Are dogs allowed on the hovercraft?
Pets can travel free of charge on the hovercraft. To allow for ‘calls of nature’, customers are recommended to allow sufficient time to exercise their pet before boarding the hovercraft.
Can dogs travel on the Isle of Wight hovercraft?

Can dogs go Southsea hovercraft?
Hovertravel connects Southsea in Portsmouth with Ryde on the Isle of Wight in just ten minutes and dogs stay with their owners throughout the journey. Our current fleet are much quieter than our previous craft, so there is less noise to disturb dogs or their owners and water bowls are available in both our terminals.
Can dogs go on the ferry to the Isle of Wight?
We know that your pet is very much part of the family, so we allow dogs, cats and other small animals on board all our ferries and they can come along with you free of charge. On our vehicle ferries, you’ll find dedicated lounges where you can relax with your pet.
Can you take dogs on the Fastcat?
Pets are allowed in all areas on our FastCats. Registered guide dogs are permitted in all passenger lounges. If you’re not sure where our Pet Friendly areas are when you’re on board, please speak to a member of our team who will be happy to show you.
Can I take my dog on a ferry as a foot passenger?
More often than not, ferries travelling to Europe only allow dogs travelling within a vehicle, rather than those travelling with passengers on foot. All journeys require your pet to be part of the ‘Pet Passport’ scheme.
Are dogs allowed on Portsmouth ferry?
With the exception of assistance dogs, pets are only permitted in the areas designated for pets on board the ship. These will be signposted on board. Pets must be muzzled and on a lead at all times outside of the kennel/pet-friendly cabin.
Can you take dogs into Portsmouth Historic Dockyard?
Sadly, due to Ministry of Defence bylaws no animals, except for assistance dogs, are permitted onto Portsmouth Naval Base, which includes the Historic Dockyard.
Can dogs go to blackgang Chine Isle of Wight?
Absolutely! We LOVE seeing dogs visit the park with their humans and our front of house team are always on-hand for cuddles! We simply ask that all guests keep their dogs on a short lead during their whole visit and clean up after them.
Are dogs allowed at Gunwharf Quay?
Gunwharf Quays is a dog-friendly destination and our staff love to welcome your four legged friends. However, we do ask that all dogs remain on a lead at all times and that you are responsible for your pet throughout your visit in the interest of Health and Safety for all our Guests.

Can dogs walk across the Royal Gorge?
Royal Gorge offers dog-friendly trails in the beautiful Van Norden Meadow. This season, all trails in the meadow are dog friendly. Due to hazardous skier/dog and dog/dog interactions occurring in parking lots and out on the trail system, we are no longer selling daily dog trail passes.
Does my dog need a muzzle on the ferry?
IMPORTANT: Dogs are required to wear a muzzle when outside of their owner’s vehicle: during check-in and during transfer between your vehicle and the kennel or a specially adapted cabin (depending on the ship), as well only at any time during outings in the exercise areas.
Do dogs need a passport for Isle of Wight?
Animal Health Certificates (AHCs) are now required for pet dogs, cats and ferrets travelling to the EU and Northern Ireland from Great Britain (non-commercial travel)*. The pet/s travelling (up to 5 max) must have the following: Microchip (properly registered to legal owner)
Are dogs free on Eurotunnel?

Are dogs allowed in cabin on ferry?
Remember that your pet must be muzzled and on a lead when outside your cabin. This means during the journeys between your vehicle and your cabin, the cabin and the exercise area and whilst in the exercise area.
What do you do with dogs on a ferry?
Ferries typically offer two options for taking your dog abroad. Firstly, they may be locked in your car on the cargo hold during your journey. Alternatively, they may be placed into the on-board kennels. Not all ferries offer both services, and there is typically a charge for either option.
How do dogs go to the bathroom on a ferry?
Once you have left the ferry, find somewhere safe to pull over and get your dog out of the car. This will allow you to check them over and gives an opportunity for them to go to the toilet and stretch their legs. The vets can often get quite full, so book your vet appointment as soon as you can for your return journey.
How do you calm a dog down on a ferry?
Bringing a familiar blanket or toy along on the journey can help pets feel at ease. Dog or cat pheromone sprays can help to have a calming effect on anxious pets. For extremely stressed pets, prescription medications are available but these should be used sparingly.
