If you want to see animals, we definitely recommend going at dawn or at dusk. Midday is hot and its when the animals take their naps. One good thing about visiting the National Zoo during the summer though is there are misters throughout the zoo that are super fun for kids.
Is Colchester Zoo better than London Zoo?
In my opinion Colchester zoo is better, the animals have more room than at London zoo. It is a way out of the town but you can get a bus that stops right outside it. Eating there can be really pricey so I’d take a packed lunch and avoid being ripped off.

Do you sell Lion/Big Cat dung as a deterrent for foxes? We are unable to sell cat dung for health and safety reasons due to the raw meat contained in their diets. We do, however, sell “Zoo Poo” which is a herbivore based manure from our Elephants and Rhinos, which is good for the garden.
