The best policy is to take your used mattress to a recycling centre or to contact the local council or a professional mattress collection company to take it away for you. If you’ve arranged for a mattress collection, check that whoever is performing it will transport the mattress somewhere for recycling.

When sinks, toilets and baths are cracked, badly chipped and cannot be re-purposed or re-sold they can be disposed of at Recycling Centres.

Empty plastic bottle deodorants can be placed into your kerbside recycling. Black plastic deodorants and lids are not accepted. Empty glass roll on deodorants can’t be collected unless you’re able to remove the roller ball. If you’re able to remove the ball, you can place the glass bottle into your glass recycling box.
Can I put small electrical items in the recycle bin?
Almost all electrical items with a plug or a battery can be recycled, including the following: Large household appliances like fridges, freezers, microwaves, dishwashers and washing machines. Smaller household appliances like irons, toasters, kettles and vacuum cleaners.
Can you put black bags in the recycling bin?
We won’t collect your recycling if it contains anything that can’t be recycled. This includes black bin bags, textiles, electricals, nappies or food.
Are coffee jar lids recyclable?
Plastic lids from containers such as coffee jars can be recycled in your blue bin or sack. Ideally, place plastic lids back onto the bottles or jars from which they came prior to recycling in your blue bin or sack. This is not essential but it does help the sorting process.
