Can You Bring A Backpack Into The Tower Of London?

Please note that we are unable to offer bag storage or a cloakroom on site, but you will be able to take your belongings with you. We only allow bags with a size 45cm x 20cm x 25cm. Any larger items will not be allowed in the Bridge.

Can you wear a backpack British Museum?

Thanks for your enquiry. Items larger than 40x40x50cm are not allowed on the British Museum premises for safety and security reasons. Wheeled cases must be carried or left in the cloakrooms.

Can I bring water into Tower of London?

Can I take a picnic into the Tower of London?

A wonderful visit and not sure which was my favourite bit. The Beefeaters were spectacular and Spike gave us a lovely chat in the chapel. Crown jewels are stunning and I felt really proud of our history even though it was grim in some places. Give the food a miss and take your own picnic as there are seats to sit on.

There is no dress code, but a lot of our guests come in smart casual clothing. Guests are welcome to dress as they wish.

Do London museums allow backpacks?

First, backpacks are not allowed in the museum’s main galleries. There is a designated backpack storage area near the museum entrance where you can store your backpack while you explore the museum.

Why do museums not allow backpacks?

The answer is to protect the artwork. Someone wearing a backpack in the traditional fashion could inadvertantly turn and brush into/knock over something with their backpack.

Can you take a packed lunch to the Tower of London?

All coats, bags and lunches must remain with your group at all times. We recommend that school groups use the Tower Shop which is at the exit after their visit. The White Tower, Beefeater and Jewel House shops are not suitable for groups of more than 10 due to their small size.

How much time do you need at the Tower of London?

You’ll want to set aside at least 2 hours for a visit to the Tower of London, but you can easily spend 3-4 here if you take the Beefeater tour and want to explore all of the nooks and crannies.

Are you allowed to take pictures of the Crown Jewels?

Please keep in mind that you will not be able to take any photographs while visiting the Crown Jewels. Cameras are strictly forbidden and visitors are not allowed to take pictures. Be aware that guards may try to stop you if any attempt is made to use a camera or snap a shot of this exhibit.

To help protect our palace, food and drink is not allowed within the confines of any of the buildings except in designated areas.

What is the best day to visit the Tower of London?

To avoid crowds, plan your visit to fall on a weekday since weekends are extremely busy. Better yet, visit the Tower the first thing in the morning because even on weekdays, the afternoon hours get pretty busy with school trips.
