Our Baboons roam around the monkey jungle which is open to cars as part of our Safari Drive so you can experience them up close! If you’re worried about your car, you can use the car friendly viewing route or take the Baboon Bus. This takes you around the whole of the Safari Drive, including the monkey jungle.
Can you skip the monkeys at Knowsley?
You have the option of going through the chimp enclosure or by-passing it. Choose the by-pass route then you can wet yourself laughing at the chimps pulling wipers/ariels/wing mirrors off other cars instead of yours!
Do monkeys damage your car Knowsley?

The Safari Drive is the park’s main attraction and contains over 29 species of animals in 7 zones.
Do cars get damaged at safari parks?
There are keepers on patrol in the African Forest to help ensure monkeys cause no damage to visitor vehicles. However, they are wild animals so this can’t always be guaranteed so we do ask people to drive through at their own risk. The monkeys will tend to hitch a ride on your car but very rarely do they cause damage.
Has an animal ever escaped from Knowsley Safari Park?
The last time there was an escape from the park was in 2013, when a baboon climbed over an electric fence after being cornered – it was later shot.
What to do if a monkey runs at you?
Don’t panic.
- Contain your fear as best as possible.
- Don’t scream.
- Don’t try to fight the monkey or push it off.
- Walk calmly away. The monkey will eventually let go and leave you alone.

How do you scare off a monkey?
Monkeys are scared of snakes. Keep real looking plastic snakes at roof tops or boundary wall of your house. Loud heavy noise, bursting of crackers or their sound track will force the monkeys to leave any premises. An injured monkey should be helped when monkey group is not close by.
What time of year do you see adders?
Yes, adders like all of our native reptiles hibernate between around October and March. During this time, they congregate in areas known as hibernacula which act as a frost-free refuge until the following spring.
Does your car get damaged at Knowsley Safari Park?
The only place your car will get damaged is the baboon area. The rest is fine. You can avoid the baboon area and drive round the edge of it and see everyone else getting their car ruined by them.

The majority of bites in dogs seem to occur between April and July, most commonly in the afternoon when the adders are most active.

As well as the exotic animals who make Knowsley their home, at the park you can also see an array of native British wildlife. Spot the waterfowl nesting around the park’s beautiful Mizzy Lake; kestrels and buzzards can be seen in the woodland and with brown hares, stoats, weasels and squirrels can also be glimpsed.

Can you bring water bottles into Safari Park?
Yes, you may take food and drink into the park. They do no allow large coolers and provide no location to store a cooler. There are tables just inside the entrance, you can get stamped to get tour cooler from the vehicle and bring it to the table and return it the car afterwards. over a year ago.
