Are There Monkeys At Knowsley Safari Park?

Our Baboons roam around the monkey jungle which is open to cars as part of our Safari Drive so you can experience them up close! If you’re worried about your car, you can use the car friendly viewing route or take the Baboon Bus. This takes you around the whole of the Safari Drive, including the monkey jungle.

Can you skip the monkeys at Knowsley?

Do cars get damaged at safari parks?

There are keepers on patrol in the African Forest to help ensure monkeys cause no damage to visitor vehicles. However, they are wild animals so this can’t always be guaranteed so we do ask people to drive through at their own risk. The monkeys will tend to hitch a ride on your car but very rarely do they cause damage.

Has an animal ever escaped from Knowsley Safari Park?

The last time there was an escape from the park was in 2013, when a baboon climbed over an electric fence after being cornered – it was later shot.

What to do if a monkey runs at you?

Don’t panic.

  1. Contain your fear as best as possible.
  2. Don’t scream.
  3. Don’t try to fight the monkey or push it off.
  4. Walk calmly away. The monkey will eventually let go and leave you alone.
