Great day out,be prepared for lots of walking but well worth it. Saw lots of different animals that I haven’t seen before at a zoo. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Several of the walls and buildings are Grade I or Grade II listed, so you have plenty of historical sights within a small area. Unfortunately you can only access the interior of Chester Castle through a paid guided tour. However, you can look at the castle from outside for free.

You can easily spend a full day at the zoo, and when the rain is pouring there aren’t many places you can do that in the rain (we were there 10-3.30 on Sunday). There are plenty of indoor cafes to hide away from the rain if you need a break, and there are even inside picnic areas if you want to take your own food.

Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo is their home. Do not yell at or taunt the animals, do not bang on their enclosures and do not throw objects into their habitats.

- Do not litter or damage public utilities inside the Zoo premises.
- Do not cross the stand-off barriers & fences, Security walls.
- Do not enter the Zoo with Polythene bags, plastic bottles, fire crackers etc.
Do and don’ts while visiting zoo?
Be careful, obey all signage and directions from staff.
Zoos can be risky if you don’t follow the rules. Do not climb over fences. Don’t try to hug animals unless a keeper says it’s okay and don’t try to take photos of yourself or your children with the animals from anywhere other than behind the barriers and fences.
