We have 8 recycling centres in Leeds that you can use for free. They’re not a tourist attraction, so we ask you to show your resident permit when you visit the sites (it’s a circular sticker you put in your car window.)

If you have a vehicle large enough to transport your mattress, you can take the mattress to the tip. However, it may just end up as a landfill, so you may prefer to pay up and let the council collect the mattress, or you might wish to take the mattress to a recycling centre.

Aside from the take back scheme below, duvets and pillows are generally not recyclable and should be disposed of in the waste bin or at a Recycling Centre. However, some animal charities may be able to use these items for bedding – check locally.
