The expert session allows up to 14 people on each side of the pool per session. The advanced plus allows up to 17 on each side of the pool. In both cases, customers can expect a shot at at least 10 waves per session. The intermediate sessions also take place on the Reefs.

How big are the waves at The Wave?
The waves range from 0.5 to almost 2 metres with an average length or ride ranging from 35m to 85m depending on the wave and skill of the surfer. The average duration of a ride is 10-13 seconds. Is it easier to learn to surf at The Wave compared to the ocean?
How much is a session at The Wave Bristol?
How can I book and how much does it cost? The surf sessions at The Wave will cost £40-45 for an adult and £30-35 for a child depending on the time of year and day of the week. A 1.5hr surf session with coaching will cost £55-60 for an adult and £45-50 for a child.
How many waves do you get at The Wave Bristol?

There are usually 15-20 waves per set (depending on group size) with around 1-2 minutes between sets – so once you’re ‘out back’ again you can chill out and wait for the next round of waves to start. Do you have to wear a wetsuit at The Wave?
For beginners, wetsuits and helmets are compulsory for safety reasons – these and surf boards are provided in the cost of your lesson. Advanced and intermediate surfers are allowed to wear board shorts, along with one of our rash vests, in the warmer summer months.
How long is a lesson at The Wave?
They are delivered by our experienced team of qualified coaches who are down-to-earth, friendly and supportive. Our lessons are 1.5 hours long, with a 30 minute dry side lesson and 60 minutes in the water. We recommend all those who are new to surfing to start with a beginner lesson.
What can I bring to The Wave?
You need to bring a swimming costume to wear underneath your wetsuit and a towel to get dry after your surf. Everything else you need to enjoy your session is supplied for you – however if you do have your own wetsuit, and boots/gloves/hood for surfing in the colder months, then we do recommend that you bring them.
How warm is the water at The Wave?

With summer highs of up to 27°C (85°F) in the pool, comfortably surfing in boardshorts is now possible in the UK (though average is 17-24°C (64°F-80°F) for this time of the year). Winter can see water as cold as 5°C (42°F), but warm wetsuits and hot showers are provided on site.
Is the 7th wave the biggest?
Surfers usually say that a “set” is a series of ocean waves that travel in groups of seven, with the seventh wave being the biggest and most powerful. The assumption is based on the time spent in the water waiting for the waves to arrive from the horizon. The lulls are often followed by action.
Is The Wave Bristol worth it?
It’s a great day out, especially if you go with family, a partner or mate(s) who surf. It’s not the same as surfing your local break but that’s kinda the point! My advice: if you’ve never surfed an artificial wave give it a go, it’s a fun experience.

Can you just swim at The Wave Bristol?
We do not currently offer any water-based activities except surfing and bodyboarding at The Wave. We may have special, one-off sessions for activities like swimming and diving in the future but no regular slots are planned just yet.
How difficult is the hike to The Wave?
Difficulty. The Wave hike is moderate in difficulty. The trail is 3 miles one-way in wilderness land. It’s also a low trafficked trail so you won’t see a distinct path part of the way unless there is sand or dirt.
Can you wear goggles at The Wave?
Notes for the following: Nose Goggles – goggles that cover the nose are not permitted due to health and safety. Glasses – not permitted. Cover up any offensive tattoos.

The design ensures each of the 118 apartment’s balconies receive a mix of shade and sunlight. The tower features basement parking, a podium, three levels of commercial space and another level with recreation facilities.
Is The Wave worth seeing?
Winning a permit to the iconic Wave is not easy but it’s well worth the effort to get out there. It’s one of our favorite places to photograph in the Southwest and certainly qualifies as a bucket list experience!
Do you wear undies in a wetsuit?
Many people actually prefer to go commando under their wetsuits, but it’s all a matter of preference. If you plan to rent the suit, however, you’re probably going to want to wear something underneath. For colder temperatures, adding layers underneath the suit is definitely the way to go.
Why don t wetsuits zip up at the front?
The back zip makes the opening very wide, so you can quickly get in without any wriggling or making awkward positions. Since they are easy to get into, it is much less likely to hurt yourself while putting them on (Weird arm and leg positions can cause sprains and cramps).

Do you have to wear a helmet at The Wave?
We recommend wearing a helmet. Helmets are compulsory for all under 18s and all surfers in the Beginner Bay. Whilst no helmet can protect the wearer against all potential injuries, the use of a helmet will provide extra protection to your head and face.
