Is the Bentway open for skating?

PARKING: so easy! There are 2 lots directly WEST of the skating trail. The only tricky part is that the sign to turn into the driveway says “Fort York” and not the Bentway so it was confusing to us at first. It’s very cheap – only $1 for half an hour.

Walk ups are allowed if there are less than 25 people on the ice but I would not chance it during holiday season. Plus you will have to have a reservation before you rent skates if you don’t have your own.

Can you skate on Lake Scugog?
Weather and ice conditions will be checked regularly to ensure the safety of skaters, however, there is risk associated with skating on a natural body of water with changing weather conditions, so please skate responsibly and do not enter if closed.
Can you skate on Lake Ontario Toronto?
“You need an extended cold snap after rain for the ice on Lake Ontario to be safe and smooth enough to skate on,” he explains. “We skate on Lake Ontario purely for the experience. If you take ice conditions into consideration, it doesn’t compare to regular rinks, ice conditions on regular rinks are much much better.”
