The M77 northbound at Junction 1 off slip is closed due to a road traffic incident. Road users are advised to use an alternative route at this time and allow extra time for their journey.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking essential overnight maintenance on the northbound M77 at Newton Mearns, between the Aurs Road overbridge and north of Waulkmill Glen Reservoir (Junctions 5 – 3), commencing Sunday 14th August until Thursday 25th August 2022.
Why is the M74 shut?
The closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential road resurfacing works are undertaken and have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic. The road will reopen at 6am each morning. Signed diversion routes will be in place during closures.

The M77 is a motorway opened between 1981 and 2005 which connects Glasgow and the South-West of Scotland. Originally opened as a 1-mile spur of the M8, it has slowly grown in length until forming an 18-mile link towards Kilmarnock.

When was the M77 completed?
Construction was completed in December 1996, despite protests about the impact of the motorway on Pollok Park and its surrounding communities. By now, the Scottish Office planned to extend the motorway south to Kilmarnock, bypassing a notorious section of single carriageway A77.

The M8 westbound Junction 15 off-slip to Castle Street will be closed each night between 8pm and 6am from Sunday 16th October to Tuesday 18th October 2022. Traffic will be diverted off the M8 westbound via the Junction 16 off-slip to join Dobbie’s Loan and turning on to Baird Street.
