As a private institution, NYU Libraries is unable to offer members of the public general access to the Libraries and collections. However, there are a number of ways visitors can access the Libraries based on affiliation and research need.
Can non NYU students use the library?
NYU Libraries Special Collections and U.S. & U.N. Document Collections are open to all researchers, regardless of affiliation.
Can you study in NYU library?
NYU Libraries provides various study spaces; some can be reserved in advance, while others are openly available. Graduate and PhD students have access to additional grad-only spaces.
Is NYU library open to alumni?
Online access to Alumni eLibrary is available. NYU Alumni are granted one visit to Bobst Library, per year, upon presentation of a NYU Alumni card and photo ID. For extended on-site access, alumni may join the Friends of Bobst Library program at a reduced rate.
Can you eat at NYU library?
Covered beverages and small, contained snacks are permitted on Lower Levels 1 & 2, and Floors 2-10, with the following exceptions: All computer workstations. Special Collections Center (Floor 2)
Can tourists go inside the New York Public Library?
Monday-Saturday: 11 am and 2 pm (The tour is one hour in duration). Double-check tour times on their website New York Public Library Tours for any last-minute changes. Note: There are no tours on Sunday.

Are visitors allowed in NYU?

The NYU Bookstore is the official bookstore serving New York University students, faculty, staff, administrators, and campus visitors.

Can Columbia students use NYU Libraries?
Students, faculty and staff of Columbia University and of the Columbia affiliates (Barnard College, Teachers College, and Union Theological Seminary) are eligible.

Do NYU students get free subway?
Visit NYU Home and search for the NJ Transit card for more information. Metropolitan Transit Authority: Although student discounts are not available for MTA subway and bus users, you can save money based on what you purchase.
Where can I take a nap at NYU?
All students will sleep in the Commuter Lounge located on the 2nd Floor of the Kimmel Center. The lounge is a large open space which will be dimly lit.
Does NYU give free food?

The Courtesy Meals program provides free, short-term food support to any enrolled student in need of emergency food assistance. Courtesy Meals are accepted at our NYC campus only.
Is alcohol allowed in NYU dorms?
Alcohol may be consumed only within assigned rooms or suites. Open containers of alcohol are prohibited in common spaces such as hallways and lounges, in public areas such as lobbies, or in outdoor areas adjacent to residence halls.
Can you just walk into a library?
You can walk in and browse through and use the books and most materials at any public library (at least in the United States). It is not necessary to make an appointment.
Are NYC public libraries free?
NYC’s libraries are a treasure trove of free resources from books to digital files and photos, but there’s much more you can actually get for free from the New York, Queens and Brooklyn Public Libraries.
Do you need tickets for New York Public Library?
No. All LIVE from NYPL events are general admission. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis.
Can You Get a New York library card without living there?
Any person who lives, works, attends school or pays property taxes in New York State is eligible to receive a New York Public Library card free of charge. Visiting New York for research? Adult and teen users may either apply online or in person at any New York Public Library location or Library-sponsored event.
Can a non resident get a NYC library card?
Non-residents may be issued a visitor’s library card on-site,with a three month expiration date. In order to qualify for a three month visitor account applicants must present photo id and proof of address (i.e. passport and utility bill) for their locality.
