Can I consult material in the Historic Reading Room? For security reasons we require anyone wishing to use Special Collections at the John Rylands Research Institute and Library to study them in the Special Collections Reading Room. You are welcome to use the Historic Reading Room for your own private study.
Can anyone study in the John Rylands Library?

Can you study in Manchester library?
Soft seating throughout the building means that you can curl up with a book or use your laptop in an environment that suits you. If you like a more formal study area, there’s a Reading Room on the first floor which has seating for over 300 people.
Is Manchester Central library free?
You can watch films for free, enjoy free wifi, and use computers (and do some gaming), as well as research, study and borrow books.
Can you eat in UOM library?
There’s no hot food allowed within any of our libraries. Cold food can be eaten in designated areas. Please be aware of your neighbour with regard to smelly and noisy foods. Drinks are allowed in lidded containers anywhere in our libraries.
Can I get to a public library to study can I just walk in and start doing my stuff or do I have to ask first like make an appointment or something?
Yes, you can just walk in and use the library resources. You don’t have to make an appointment. Good reading.
Are non UNSW students allowed in library?
Library: I’m not from UNSW, can I use the Library? Members of the public are welcome to use the Library facilities and collections during regular opening hours. Library members can borrow books and access Library computers and online resources.
Can I just go study in the British Library?
Can you work or study in the Reading Rooms? Yes. If you have a Reader Pass you can study at the British Library, even if you’re not using any collection items.

Senate House Library in the central library for the University of London with a research collection covering Arts, Literature, Humanities, and Social Sciences. City students and staff can apply online for access to Senate House Library using the pre-registration form.
