How long does Lightopia last?
We were there about 90 minutes. We didn’t go on any of the rides and we also didn’t rush through the trail. We had a fantastic evening and if we had got an earlier time slot, we would have spent a little longer.

The walking route is around 1.5 hours – there are some gentle hills throughout the trail and there is an incline on the route back to the car park – the walk back to the car park is 680m/0.7km. Please note we do not hire out wheelchairs/ mobility scooters at event.

Is Lightopia suitable for prams?
Yes, the whole trail is completely accessible for wheelchairs and buggies. There is some uphill walking, particularly when you’ve finished the trail so wear comfy shoes.

Is Alton Towers Lightopia worth?
Lightopia was fantastic! It took us nearly an hour to walk around and the displays were beautiful.
What is the quietest day to go to Alton Towers?
During peak periods such as weekends and school holidays we do recommend guests our fast track packages to help reduce wait times for some of our rides and attractions. Alternatively, quieter times to visit are usually during the week outside of the School Holidays.

The Serpentine Bar and Kitchen serves a wide variety of tasty hot meals and snacks, freshly prepared sandwiches and salads, a daily selection of cakes and puddings from the bakery and hot and cold drinks from the bar.

With humble beginnings as an open-air Christmas market in Hyde Park, Winter Wonderland has since grown into an extravaganza with ice skating, shows, roller coaster rides, street food stalls, festive bars and live music.

Where is the entrance to Crystal Palace Lightopia?
Entrance to the exhibit is via Canada Gate and the first lantern is the Guardian Gate which has an illuminated sign that says Lightopia. When you enter Lightopia, there are various fairground rides like Twist and Dodgems for you to pass the time if you’re waiting for the rest of your party to arrive.
Will Lightopia still go ahead?
Many of Manchester’s usual Christmas celebrations have been postponed or cancelled this year. But thankfully Lightopia, the award-winning lantern and light festival in Heaton Park, will still be going ahead – though with new dates.
