If you put glass in your waste bin, it will go to landfill with the other residual waste. Whilst residual waste may be treated to remove some recyclables, the majority of it still ends up in landfill so please try to recycle your glass wherever possible.

If you have a vehicle large enough to transport your mattress, you can take the mattress to the tip. However, it may just end up as a landfill, so you may prefer to pay up and let the council collect the mattress, or you might wish to take the mattress to a recycling centre.
Can you take pots and pans to the tip?
Pots and pans can’t be recycled from home, but if they’re in good condition, you can donate them to charity or pass them on using platforms like Olio, Freecycle or Gumtree, to name just a few. If they’re beyond use, recycle them at your local household waste recycling centre.
Can sofas be taken to the tip?
Most tips or Local Recycling Centres, as they’re officially known, will happily accept your sofa and, where possible, will recycle or reuse as much of the sofa as possible.

Can you take a wheel and TYRE to the tip?
Only registered waste carriers are legally allowed to dispose of tyres, so if you do find somewhere that offers to take them, make sure you ask to see their license. You won’t be allowed to throw tyres away in a skip.

It is now perfectly fine to use any general litter bin to dispose of your dog’s poo, but if you can’t find one, do take it home with you. At home it should be placed in the general domestic waste bin, not the food or garden bin.

The answer to that question is yes, and it is quite easy to do so! All you need to do is put the flower petals into a green garden waste bin as you would your vegetable peels or left-over food.
Can I put shredded paper in recycling bin?
Shredded paper can be disposed of in your mixed recycling bin or (blue) bag. If you produce larger quantities of paper/cardboard its better to segerate it and get a paper/cardboard recycling bin rather than put it in mixed recycling.
Should glass jars be recycled with lids?
Ultimately, you are welcome to leave lids on the glass jars and bottles that you place into your single stream recycling. The updated, state-of-the-art recycling processes currently in place will more than handle the mixed commodities at the processing level.
