The Grand River Transit (GRT) system connects the Tri-Cities (Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo) together. GRT operates seven days a week with more than 50 routes. It consists of a regular and express bus service as well as the ION rapid transit system.
Can I use Presto on GRT?
You will need to show a valid GO Transit ticket, day pass or Presto Card to your GRT MobilityPLUS operator when you board the vehicle. For GO train schedules, please visit the GO Transit website.
Can we use GRT card in GO bus?
If you’re travelling outside Waterloo Region, you can use GRT to connect directly with GO Transit, VIA Rail, and other intercity buses.

Is the GRT free for Waterloo students?
The University of Waterloo has a universal bus pass (U-Pass) program. Full-time undergraduate and graduate students can use their WatCard for unlimited rides on Grand River Transit. The cost is included in university tuition and valid for each school term: September to December; January to April; May to August.
Does TTC pass work on GO train?

What are go cards used for?
The GO! cardâ„ is exclusively for the purchase of monthly transit fare media for travel between your home and work location. The card should not be used for personal or business travel.
Can you eat on the GO train?
At many of our stations, you can buy snacks and drinks to enjoy before or during your ride. However, please think of other passengers by cleaning up after yourself and putting your garbage in the proper bins.
Can you carry suitcase in GO bus?
Can I bring luggage on a train or bus? We cannot accommodate large amounts of luggage; however, during non-rush hour service, you can bring whatever luggage you are able to carry on.

How do I use my GRT one card?
Using your OneCard on GRT
Tap your OneCard on the farebox when you board. The smart card reader is the blue-green rectangle on the lower right corner of the farebox. Hold your card level and square against the card reader and wait for the farebox to ding.

GO Transit uses an honour-based proof of fare payment system. Before you go up to the train platform at Union Station, or board a GO train or bus, you must buy a ticket or tap your PRESTO/Credit card (including those credit cards on your phone or watch) and verify a fare deduction (green checkmark).
Do you have to pay for the GO Train?
We recommend children under 12 are accompanied by an adult when travelling on GO Transit. Children under 6 cannot travel alone. Weekend Day passes are $10 for unlimited one day travel for each rider aged 13+. Weekend passes are $15 for unlimited weekend travel for each rider aged 13+.
