Ready to Burn legislation came into force in England on 1 May 2021. This new law will ban the sale of the most polluting fuels used in homes; wet wood and house coal. Wood sold in volumes of up to 2m³ will need to be Ready to Burn certified as having a moisture content of less than 20%.
Can you still use wood burning stoves?
The answer is no, as long as the stove being purchased is an Ecodesign model or was manufactured before the 1st January 2022. All stoves on sale will have to meet one of these criteria. So you will be able to purchase and use a wood burning or multi-fuel stove in 2022 and beyond.
