Folded bicycles can be taken free of charge on the tube at all times. Non-folding bicycles can be taken free of charge on some sections of the tube outside peak times. Peak times are 07.30 – 09.30 and 16.00 – 19.00, Monday to Friday, except for public holidays.
Are cycles allowed on tube?
You can take folded cycles anywhere, at any time on all our transport services. However, on buses the driver can decide not to let you travel if it’s too busy. Electric scooters – folded or not – are not allowed.
Which Tube Lines can you take a bike on?
The short answer is, unless it is a folding bike (which are allowed anywhere on the tube at any time) you can only take your bike on London Underground trains outside the rush-hour and not on the deep-section tunnels (although the new Elizabeth Line does allow bikes in tunnelled sections). see the map above.
Can I take my bike on the train in London?
Bicycles are welcome free of charge on non-inter city services where they can be accommodated safely. At busy times, on trains arriving in London (either Liverpool Street or Stratford) between 07.45-09.45 and departing London or Stratford between 16.30-18.30 Monday to Friday, bicycles are banned.
Can I carry my cycle in train?
The bike will be loaded on any train going to your destination. It is as per the discretion of the railway clerk. You will be given a receipt for the same. Once the cycle reaches the destination station, you need to visit the luggage office there, show them your receipt and ID and collect your bike.
Can you pass a solid line to pass a bicycle?
Here again, the Highway Safety Code invokes motorists’ good judgment: Article 344 states that a driver may cross a solid single or double line when overtaking a cyclist, provided it can be done safely.
Are bicycles allowed on trains UK?
Yes, you can. Although the types of bikes allowed on trains can vary. Fully folding bicycles are allowed on all trains without restrictions or reservations. Reservations are sometimes required for full-size bicycles on certain services, and there are also restrictions on Peak-time travel.

In London, use two Sold Secure gold bike locks to secure the bike to an immovable object, ensuring both wheels and frame are covered by the locking (don’t just lock the frame or front wheel). Don’t use cable locks (especially as a primary lock, regardless of the risk factor of the area/facility).

It is perfectly feasible to take your bikes on most airlines, the rules and regulations do vary from carrier to carrier. Most airlines require you to bag or box your bike, very few just allow you to remove the pedals, deflate tyres and turn the handle bars around.

How do I take my bike on a local train?
Yes. You can take your bicycle in the luggage compartment but not in the passenger compartment.

What speed should you pass a cyclist?

The updated code says they must leave at least 1.5m when overtaking cyclists at speeds up to 30mph, “giving them more space” when overtaking at higher speeds. The code also confirms that cyclists can pass stationary or slow-moving traffic on the right or left.
Is it illegal to ride a bike next to train tracks?
No, it is part of the railroad right of way, is private property and you would be trespassing. Most railroad right of ways extend 25-50 feet from the centerline of the track on either side.
Can you take a bike on a train from London to Oxford?

Swipe your MetroCard, turn the turnstile, and then use the service gate. If you need help, talk to the agent in the station booth. Don’t lift your bicycle over the turnstile.
Can I park my bike anywhere in UK?
In fact, in some locations, you are fine to do this. Just as long as your bike doesn’t cause an obstruction. However, in other, notably London, parking on the pavement is illegal no matter what. To that end, if you are not 100% sure, it is usually best to find an alternative.
Where can I park my cycle in London?

Do you have to pay for bikes in London?
You have to be 18 or over to pay for a bike, and over 14 to ride one. You also need a credit or debit card– cash is not accepted. There are two ways to hire a bike. At a docking station terminal or via an app (the easiest way).
