How do you travel with 3 bags?
One belt is usually enough for strapping two or three suitcases together by the top handles. Just make sure to tighten the belt as tightly as possible so that the bags don’t move around. If you don’t have a spare belt lying around, you can use regular rope or string to tie the pieces together.
Is there a limit to how much stuff you can take on a train?
There is no official size or weight restrictions, however luggage must not be so big or heavy that it cannot be handled by a single person. Luggage should be stored in overhead luggage racks, under the seats or in one of the luggage compartments located near the doors or in the middle of the carriage.
What can you not bring on a train?
The following items are prohibited onboard the train: non-service animals, firearms and ammunition, hover boards, corrosive or dangerous chemicals and materials, incendiaries, martial arts and self-defense items, archery equipment, devices containing propellants, sharp objects, and similar items.
What if my bag is too big on Amtrak?
Amtrak doesn’t allow overweight luggage on-board; instead, you’ll need to repack your bags to ensure that they’re under 50 pounds. This can be done by moving some items around from your checked bags to your carry-ons, or purchasing boxes (which are available at the train station) to repack.
How early should I arrive at Amtrak?
Plan to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before your train is scheduled to depart (Auto Train passengers should arrive at the station at least two hours prior to departure).
Can I bring snacks on Amtrak?
You may bring your own food and beverages onboard for consumption at your seat or private Sleeping Car accommodations. However, you can only consume food and beverages purchased in Dining and Lounge Cars in those cars. Personal food and beverages are allowed in the upper level of Superliner Sightseer Lounges.
Where do I put my bags on Amtrak?
Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate bags in seats. Any luggage you bring on board needs to be in your custody, stored in overhead racks, under seats, or in designated baggage areas. Travel necessities like pillows, blankets, computer cases or medical devices are allowed.
