If you have ordered a plastic 16-25 Railcard online, please allow up to 5 working days for delivery. If you paid for ‘Special Delivery’ and placed your order before 15:45pm, your Railcard will be delivered within two days (Monday to Thursday) or three days (Friday to Sunday).
What do I do if my Railcard hasn’t arrived?

Can I travel before my Railcard arrives?
No. You must carry your Railcard with you on any journey where you have bought discounted tickets with the Railcard. Therefore, if you buy discounted Railcard tickets before you receive your Railcard, you do this at your own risk.
How much is a fine for no Railcard?
The current penalty is either: £20. twice the appropriate fare from the station where you started your journey to either the next station at which the train stops or the station you leave the train, whichever is the greater amount.
Can you use a Railcard without the card?
Digital Railcards are stored within the Railcard app on your smart phone or tablet, meaning there’s no need to carry the physical card around with you.
Can you buy a Railcard instantly?
You can buy a 16-25 Railcard at any staffed station ticket office or National Rail-licensed Travel Agent. You can do it on the day you are travelling, just ensure the ticket office is open. If you’re applying at a station for the first time you’ll need to complete an application form.

Can you still get a plastic Railcard?

Do they ask for proof of railcard?
You must show your valid 16-25 Railcard (digital or plastic) when you buy your ticket and travel on the train. If you bought your Railcard at a station, both the paper printed Railcard and the photocard must be presented.

The rules state that the railcard must be carried with you when you are travelling. Is a “ticket examiner” being petty by not accepting a photocopy or a photo from your smart phone? In my view, no.
Can I show my Railcard on my phone?
The Railcard App is available to download from the Apple Store and the Google Play store. The App is only compatible with devices that have the following software: Apple iOS 10 and above and Android 4.1 and above. The Railcard app is not compatible with Windows Phones.
Can you travel with an expired Railcard?
If you Railcard expires before the end of your journey then you will need to renew it to be able to complete your trip using expired tickets. If the only Railcard you have is expired you will not be able to continue to use your discounted tickets.
Can you get a Railcard without a photo?
You will be asked to provide a digital passport-style photo if you select ‘Digital’. You do not need a photo if you have ordered a ‘Plastic’ Network Railcard. Digital Network Railcard will be available to use straight away.
Do you have to show ID with Railcard?
No. Just your name, address and basic information is required.
How long does digital Railcard take?
Railcard are available offline for a period of up to 72 hours. The Railcard app on your device will continue to show your digital Railcard as long as your mobile device has connected to the internet at some point within the last 72 hours.

Unfortunately you can only have one version of your Railcard – either plastic or digital. Once you have purchased your Railcard you cannot change the type of Railcard you have.
Do ticket inspectors check for Railcards?
Yes, they check your railcard every time they check your ticket. If your railcard hasn’t arrived by the time you travel, you’ll need to order new tickets.
Is using someone else’s Railcard illegal?
The Railcard and tickets bought with it are not transferable to anyone else and you must not give, lend, or resell them. Only the named cardholder(s) can use the Railcard. 2.4. Train Companies will not issue refunds on unused/unwanted Railcards, or extend their validity period.
