How far is the event? Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 is a 100-mile event starting at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It involves travelling through the capital and onto Surrey’s stunning country roads, through the Surrey Hills and ending with a spectacular finish along The Mall in Central London.
What is the route for RideLondon 2022?
In total there will be 65 miles of Essex roads included in the event routes. The route will start in central London, enter Essex via Epping Forest and pass through Chipping Ongar and picturesque villages such as Fyfield and Leaden Roding before reaching Great Dunmow.

It comes at around 55 miles and takes you up Leith Hill, which is the highest point in the south-east, at a grand 294 metre above sea level. The official map marks it as a 7% climb and our RideWithGPS stats show a maximum gradient of 10%. Most of the climb is thinly wooded, so don’t expect much by the way of views.

Is London 2022 a hilly ride?
The roads are very flat, so will serve as a good warm up before the real action begins. You’ll wind out past the Tower of London and Canary Wharf, before turning north to Stratford. This is the only bit of the route that is the same as the Surrey route, so many will have ridden these roads before.

Generally, build up to ride at least 75 miles in a day three times before your event. Work hard at least one day per week. Include climbing in your workouts. Build up to climb at least as many feet in a day as in your event, up to 10,000 feet.
How does a beginner train for a century ride?
As a general rule of thumb, to most comfortably complete a century ride without having to push yourself to the far limits of your physical abilities, you’ll want to gradually train up to riding 70 or more miles. If you can comfortably ride 70 or more miles in training, you’ll be able to ride 100-miles on event day.

Good options include low fat fruit smoothies, bagels, low fat muffins or banana bread, raisin toast, sandwiches or toast. All of these foods are digested relatively quickly but will give your muscles a significant load of carbohydrate.

How long does it take to complete the Triple Bypass ride?
The 16 mile ascent to the top was tree-lined and spectacular. I felt strong and rode with one of my friends at a good pace. It took us right at 1.5 hours from Evergreen to the summit, so we were feeling good about our start to the ride. The climb up Juniper Pass is beautiful.
