Is the Bristol Channel safe to swim?

Brean Beach is 7 miles long and Berrow another 6 miles and like all these beaches in the Bristol Channel is only safe to swim around high tide. At this point you are close to the Severn Estuary and there is a significant amount of mud to contend with.
