On 14th September 2017 we began a new chapter in the At-Bristol story when we relaunched as We The Curious – a creative, multi-disciplinary space and a movement which champions the value of curiosity for everyone.
Why did At-Bristol change to We The Curious?

In September 2017, At-Bristol reopened as We The Curious, with a new mission to “create a culture of curiosity”, in response to a consultation showing that the previous mission to “make science accessible to all” was no longer unique.
What did We The Curious Bristol used to be called?
We The Curious was previously known as At-Bristol Science Centre; an educational charity with an aim to “make science accessible to all”, it opened in 2000, and welcomed over 5 million visitors in the past 20 years.
Why did Bristol change its name?
A mint was established in the Saxon burgh of Brycgstow by the 10th century and the town rose to prominence in the Norman era, gaining a charter and county status in 1373. The change in the form of the name ‘Bristol’ is due to the local pronunciation of ‘ow’ as ‘ol’.
