Are you allowed to walk around Cambridge University?
You are very very limited in where you can walk to even see the exteriors and can’t go in to any of the buildings and most don’t let you even walk around outside in the courtyard. While the University itself was disappointing, Cambridge is still worth a visit. Loved the punt tour and the pubs are awesome.

Public (State) universities are public property, so you can walk into those campuses. In some cases, with appropriate ID, you might even be able to use the facilities such as the Library.

Is Trinity College Cambridge open to public?
College Grounds
Currently the courts including Great Court are not open to the public. However, the public can access ‘The Backs’ – the College grounds beside the River Cam – when these are open: normally 9am-5.30pm, but please note they may be closed for special events.
Can non students walk around campus?
In most universities (at least the ones I’ve seen), you can roam in them as much as you like. Student places, like the cafeteria, are usually open and you can eat in it if you like. Libraries depend on the university and the library, but most require an ID to entre and all require an ID to borrow.
Can I just walk into a college class and sit in?
As a general rule, it is often okay to walk into big classrooms and attend lectures without getting into trouble with school authorities. Many students tend to walk-in to certain classes to prepare themself ahead of taking the class in the future or simply need to request an add code from professors.
Can anyone walk around a college?
Since colleges are public property, you are free to walk around campus. Even if someone does end up asking if you are a student, you can say “no” with confidence. Now if you aren’t a student, you will be limited on what you can access.

Can I just walk into a college class and sit in? No, you cannot just walk into a college class without some sort of permission. Most universities require students to be register for the class to sit in it.
Do you have to pay to go to Cambridge?
The tuition fee for Home fee status students starting their first undergraduate degree in 2023 will be £9,250 for the year. The government regulated tuition fee for 2024-25 hasn’t been set.
