Who can use QMUL library?
Students from institutions not eligible for the SCONUL Access scheme, or part of the University London network, members of the general public, and private researchers are welcome to visit our libraries if they can demonstrate genuine research needs. This applies both to One Day Passes and Temporary Membership.

How do I get access to London University library?
SCONUL Access is a scheme which allows many university library users to study spaces or books and journals at other libraries which belong to the scheme.
To apply for SCONUL Access:
- First, complete the two steps below and click ‘Find’
- Select the library you wish to use.
- Click ‘Apply for Access’ and complete the form.
Can alumni use library QMUL?
Alumni are welcome to access all the printed materials and learning resources on open shelves but they have no borrowing rights.
Can QMUL students use LSE library?
QMUL staff and students have reference access to many other libraries at other University of London institutions. Each library will have its own opening hours and terms of access so please check with the library you intend to visit before travelling.

Who can become a Reader at the British Library? Anyone over the age of 18 who wants to access our collection or Reading Rooms, and can visit the Library in person, can apply for a Reader Pass. Our users include academic researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students and members of the public.

How do I get a UK library card?
You must bring identification with your name and address on it such as a driving licence, bank statement or recent utility bill. There is a charge of £1.20 for replacing lost or damaged library cards.

Anyone 16 years old or above can join our libraries online free of charge, providing they have proof of ID and their permanent address anywhere in the UK.
