You can compost most starchy foods, including other baked goods and pasta. A rule of thumb used by many composters says that if you can eat it, you can compost it. Like bread, pasta will compost better when broken into smaller pieces, and when added in limited quantities.

Can cooked rice go into compost?

It is now perfectly fine to use any general litter bin to dispose of your dog’s poo, but if you can’t find one, do take it home with you. At home it should be placed in the general domestic waste bin, not the food or garden bin.
Can you put tin foil in the green bin?
If foils are soiled they cannot be recycled and should be disposed of in the general waste bin. You can however place scrunched, CLEAN aluminium or tin foil in the household recycling bin. These are made from foil lined paper, which is currently not accepted in the recycling bin.
Can I put bubble wrap in green bin?
While some plastics can be recycled, the particular kind of plastic bubble wrap is made from cannot be. This is because the thin film can tangle in recycling machines. Don’t put bubble wrap in the green bin but you can think about keeping and reusing it where possible.

Papter towel and toilet paper rolls can be recycled or composted! If you have a compost pail in the bathroom (which we recommend due to being able to compost tissues and cotton swaps with paper sticks), toilet paper rolls can go into the compost as well!
Can you compost egg cartons?
You can also put cardboard egg cartons in a compost pile. They break down quickly and will help create rich fertilizer for your garden. You can also compost the egg shells!
Is newspaper OK in compost?
Newspaper is safe to compost, but it breaks down quite slowly because of its high lignin content. (Lignin is a substance found in the woody cell walls of plants, and it is highly resistant to decomposition). Most newspapers today use water or soy-based inks.
Can I put a kettle in the bin?

Can I compost teabags?
Theoretically, yes you can compost tea bags. The UK government’s anti-waste advisory group WRAP suggests that tea bags are suitable for home composting and that if any parts of the tea bag are still visible in the end compost, they can simply be removed by hand or sieved out to be returned back into the compost bin.
