Children aged 17 and under who are accompanied by an adult are admitted free of charge every raceday at Chester across all enclosures*. If you are accompanied by a child in any enclosure other than Tattersalls or the Roodee, you will be required to collect a badge on arrival.

Can children go to the races? Children under 18 are welcomed at many of the Jockey Club horseracing events. In fact, at many events children go free! Family days out at our racecourses are packed with fun activities for children and adults alike.
How old do you have to be to go to the races?
Children under 16 are not permitted entry unless accompanied by a responsible adult (over 18). You are responsible for each child that you bring onto the Racecourse and should ensure each child complies with these Conditions.

Do you have to wear a suit to Chester races?
Gentlemen are required to wear a well-tailored suit or a blazer with smart trousers, together with a shirt, collar and tie. Ladies are required to wear smart dress. No denim jeans of any colour, no trainers, no shorts, no sportswear and no fancy dress will be permitted.
Can children go to the horse races?
A Day at the Horse Races is Family Fun! Kids can watch up close as the horses leave the gate and cross the finish line. They can watch the winning horses be awarded and even visit them in the stables.
Who can enter the race for the kids?
Children under 16 years of age on the Event day must be registered, have parental consent to participate and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Can 11 year olds race cars?
Racers can be as young as four and a half, as old as 16 before they must “retire.” Most racers, if they are serious about it, move on to larger cars in other series long before they reach 16. There are 15 different classes of quarter-midgets at the mini-Mickyard, but they pretty much look the same to the uninitiated.

York Racecourse extends a warm welcome to children, young racegoers and adults to enjoy racing on the Knavesmire. – Value for money, children under the age of 18 are admitted free, children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult (on music racedays, terms & conditions apply).
Can you take beer into Chester races?
A moderate amount of alcohol (two cans of beer or half a bottle of wine per person) can only be brought on to the Open Course via car. No alcohol may be brought onto the site by foot. All alcohol brought onto the site by racegoers must be consumed in the car park picnic area.
Can men go to Ladies day?
Men are more than welcome at Ladies Day! The idea that Ladies Day is a women-only event is a total myth, so dust off those tails, tweeds and suits and dress to impress!
Is it free to park at Chester Racecourse?

There are almost 800 parking bays available across the two car parks. Both car parks offer parking free of charge on certain days.
Are there sniffer dogs at Chester races?
Do you have sniffer dogs? It is common to see sniffer (drug detection) dogs outside the racecourse at our admission gates on a race day.
Can men go to ladies day at Chester Racecourse?
For gentlemen a collar is required, either polo shirt or collared shirt. Smart (not ripped) jeans, trousers or chinos are permitted. We encourage a smart dress code in all enclosures, so feel free to dress up and enjoy the occasion.
Can I wear jeans to the races?
Wear whatever makes you comfortable. During the regular work week, most people at the races have on jeans and t-shirts. If you’re going on a big race day and don’t want to dress up, stick with a comfortable pair of pants and polo shirt. That goes for ladies and gentlemen.
Can a 4 year old go horse riding?
In general, with proper supervision, kids can start riding a (smaller) horse or a pony as young as 2-3 years old. Some schools do offer courses for toddlers as the earlier a child gets introduced to a horse, the easier it becomes to be comfortable around them.
Can a 4 year old horse race?
Horses may race until they are well over ten years old, at which point they will still compete with some horses as young as age three or four.
Can a 2 year old do horse riding?
Generally, kids can begin horse riding lessons very young with classes available for kids as young as two or three years old.
Are kids allowed to run marathons?
Most marathons have a minimum age requirement. The minimum is typically between 16 and 18-years-old and may require parent consent. Smaller races might have younger age requirements, so be sure to check before committing to the race.
Can you take children to f1?
Yes, all children need a ticket for event access. Children under 2 are free and will sit on your lap in our Grandstands. They will not be allocated a seat.
