On Saturday 5 November 2022, Chester Racecourse’s iconic Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza will return to the Roodee. Enjoy firework displays, live entertainment, fairground rides and more.

At Chester Racecourse, we operate a dynamic pricing system which gives racegoers who pre-book ahead of time the best price possible. This means the earlier you book, the less you pay. You can, if you wish, arrive on the day and purchase tickets either at the gate or in the Box Office (depending on enclosure).

Can you take beer into Chester races?
A moderate amount of alcohol (two cans of beer or half a bottle of wine per person) can only be brought on to the Open Course via car. No alcohol may be brought onto the site by foot. All alcohol brought onto the site by racegoers must be consumed in the car park picnic area.

No person under the age of 18 is permitted in the Winning Post enclosure at any time. f) Betting and the consumption of alcoholic beverages by Racegoers under the age of 18 are strictly prohibited. g) Cigarettes (including e-cigarettes) shall not be used in designated ‘no smoking’ areas of the Racecourse.
Can I wear a jumpsuit to Chester races?
There is no strict dress code in this enclosure. It is however advisable to dress for the elements. Should you wish to upgrade your ticket to a Tattersalls ticket on the day, shorts, tracksuits, t-shirts and fancy dress will not be permitted.
How long does Chester races last?
The three-day May meeting and the Sunday fixture in August attract huge crowds and it is advisable to arrive early.
Which enclosure is best at Chester races?
The Tattersalls Enclosure is located between the Dee Stand and County Concourse. Offering access to both sides of the track (including the Parade Ring in the Paddock), Tattersalls is a firm favourite with racegoers.
