How much time do you need at Dover Castle?
It does depend if you want to see every room, tower, corridor, tunnel and walk every rampart. To do the whole complex justice, without the two WWII tunnel towers I would say 4-5 hours. The WWII tours – Operation Dynamo and Hospital Tunnels take 40 minutes and 1/2 hour respectively.

You’ll have to pay for parking at the White Cliffs National Trust car park unless you’re a member (like me!). This is really the only car park in the area and is therefore well worth the cost thanks to the easy access to the cliffs, the walking trails, a café and toilets it grants you!

Where is the best place to see the White Cliffs of Dover?
The best way to see the cliffs is to take a walk along the coastal path towards South Foreland Lighthouse. You’ll get a great view of the cliffs and also see the chalk grassland that’s home to so many unusual plants and insects like the chalkhill blue butterfly and the pyramidal orchid.

Do you check in your luggage on ferries? No, there is no check-in procedure for luggage items.
Can you walk to the edge of the White Cliffs of Dover?
We have a wheelchair friendly footpath that leads to a viewing point, ideal if you just want a short walk to see the iconic cliffs. This all weather path is built with a staggered incline, allowing a few breathers on the way up and is ideal if the weather is bad.
Can you stay in the lighthouse at the White Cliffs of Dover?
The South Foreland Lighthouse is one of the most famous Victorian landmarks of the area and offers some of this picturesque area’s best views. While most visitors only come for the day, you can now actually stay in one of the most historically significant National Trust locations.
