Clearing is how unis and colleges fill any places they still have on their courses. From 5 July – 17 October 2023, you can apply for a course using Clearing if you’re not already holding an offer from a university or college, and the course still has places. You can use Clearing if: you’re applying after 30 June.

If you’re applying to university through Clearing, there are some circumstances where you may be asked to attend an interview or audition to progress your application.
How long does it take for a clearing offer to be accepted?
How long does the Clearing application process take? The initial phone call should only take around 10 minutes, and you’ll usually get a decision straight away. Sometimes the university may require some additional information, or have to complete some additional checks before they can offer you a place.
How long does it take for uni to accept clearing?
If the university wants to offer you a place on their course, they’ll do so immediately over the phone when you call them. However, you’ll still need to log onto your UCAS Hub account and add the Clearing course. Once you’ve done this, universities will typically confirm your place within 24 to 72 hours.
