Is DofE worth for university?
Employers tell us that they look out for DofE Awards when they recruit – deeming extra-curricular activities which develop soft skills to be just as important as academic achievements – so we encourage you to include your Award on your CV and job applications as well if you’re looking to work whilst at university.
Does the Duke of Edinburgh Award look good on a CV?
You can learn lots of new skills, improve your fitness and take part in expeditions and adventure activities. A DofE Award also looks good on your CV and can be useful when applying for educational courses and jobs.
What does Duke of Edinburgh help with?
When your child does their DofE programme they’ll develop the skills and attitudes they need to become more rounded, confident adults. Qualities that colleges, universities and employers are attracted to. So when you support your child’s pursuit of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, you’re investing in their future.
Is gold DofE worth UCAS points?
Does Gold DofE get UCAS points? No. You will not receive UCAS points for completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award. However, some universities look at extracurricular activities favourably during the admission process.
Does Oxford care about Duke of Edinburgh?
No UK university will ever care whether you did DofE or not. Doing the Duke of Edinburgh programme will probably have little to no impact on your university application. BUT it may be beneficial when looking for your first job after university.
Does DofE count for UCAS?
All the work you do for the DofE counts towards the Chief and Queen Scout Awards so you might as well get two awards for doing the same work? It is internationally recognised by many employers and Universities (it even counts as UCAS points) but most of all its fun!
Do universities care about DofE?
Your gold award in DofE isn’t a golden ticket to any higher education institution that you fancy. Rather, as we discussed in our piece on the school clubs that look good to universities, it’s much more about what you do with it.
Does Oxbridge care about DofE?
again it doesn’t harm your application but for oxbridge i don’t think it has any impact really (apart from showing you do other things apart from work). a st annes admission tutor told me “we don’t care how many Dof E awards you’ve got”.
Should I mention DofE in a CV?
– Work experience – where possible, make each one relevant to the role you’re applying for, listing your achievements and responsibilities. – Qualifications – as well as your academic qualifications, remember to include your DofE Award.
What should you not take on DofE?
Dense, filling food such as nuts, sweets and dried meat are ideal for DofE. Avoid all canned goods, items packaged in glass, or food that requires refrigeration. You should also bear in mind that some foods release energy slowly, and others quickly.
How hard is Duke of Edinburgh Award?
Participants need to be 14 for bronze level, 15 for silver and 16 – 24yrs for the gold level. It is a rigorous, challenging award and hard work, with strong commitment required to complete all levels. Having said that you can just ‘go for gold’ if preferred, which seems to be a popular route today.
Can I wear jeans on DofE?
Remember – avoid cotton and denim! They let heat escape, get heavy when wet and dry slowly, so no jeans or joggers. All Duke of Edinburgh’s Award recommended technical clothing is breathable and lightweight.
Is Gold DofE good for uni?
I also think that DofE Gold helps prepare you for university life, by replicating university experiences. Like going away from home, on your own, and interacting with a group of your peers. So, if you’ve got the time, and you can afford to do so, I would wholeheartedly recommend DofE Gold.

Is Gold DofE impressive?
While I would always recommend any DofE Award holder to especially write home about the transferrable skills they developed over the course of their Award (because this is what employers really want to see), a Gold Award is often considered impressive in isolation.
Is DofE internationally Recognised?
The DofE is proud to be part of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation which supports operators in more than 130 countries and territories to deliver DofE and increase opportunities for young people.
Do you shower on Duke of Edinburgh?
No – most of the campsites do not have showers. You will be able to wash, athough there is unlikely to be hot water.
Do universities accept D?
While most colleges consider a D a passing grade for pass/fail courses, some require a C. And pass/fail classes may not count toward major or general education requirements.
Do you need DofE to get into Oxford?
Not at all, by all means do it if you have the time, but your exam results are far more important. Of the 4 people I know at Oxford, only 1 has done DofE. It’s a good thing to do regardless of whether it will give your application a boost. Don’t do it just because it makes you look like a more rounded candidate.
What percentage of students do DofE?
