Fishing is available to all members on the club’s stretch of the Erewash Canal near Langley Mill. We have access to a mile of mainly single bank fishing on this canal, stretching from Langley Mill lock (close to KFC) down to Shipley lock.

The tench does not enjoy high levels of disturbance from boats. Consequently they are much more common on lightly trafficked canals with clear water and plenty of weed cover. The Slough Arm, Wyrley & Essington, Rushall, Ashby and Walsall canals are very good tench fishing locations, as is Clattercote Reservoir.
Can you feeder fish a canal?
Canal fishing with the feeder rod can be interesting and exciting! Particularly good is a static canal, where some nice bream can be caught. I use a mixture of Champion’s Feeder Big Bream and Champion’s Feeder Quick Skimmer Groundbaits.
How do you pre bait a canal for carp?
For the first three weeks, my focus is to get the carp’s attention and make them aware of the food. To do this I use about a kilo of Bag Up Baits Scopex Boosted Boilies and a tin of sweetcorn to the spot upon every visit, distributing it about 2 metres along the margin.
