Our Rare Breed Farm Animals Our current breeding groups include our herd of Irish Moiled cattle. The herd at Croxteth was developed in 1984 and was the first Irish Moiled herd on mainland Britain. Since then, over 200 calves have been born with many being sent off to new breeding groups throughout the UK.

What is Croxteth Hall used for?
Croxteth Hall is a country estate and Grade II* listed building in the West Derby suburb of Liverpool, England. It is the former country estate and ancestral home of the Molyneux family, the Earls of Sefton.
Who owns Croxteth Park?
A c 17ha piece of land between Hall Brook and Finch Wood has been developed as a private housing estate. The remaining land is owned by Knowsley Borough Council and the parkland is managed as Croxteth Hall and Country Park.
Is Croxteth Park free?
Entry to the Country Park is free but admission prices apply if you wish to visit Croxteth Hall and/or Victorian Walled Garden.

How long is Croxteth Park?
Croxteth Park is a 1.6 mile (3,500-step) route located near Liverpool, England.
When was Croxteth built?
From the 16th century the Catholic Molyneux family were rivals to the Stanley Earls of Derby for the control of Liverpool. They lived originally in Sefton but in 1575 Sir Richard Molyneux built a new house at Croxteth. Remnants of this building can be seen embedded in the south wing.

Our café is open to the public from 8am, 7 days a week, no entrance fee to the farm is necessary. Please note, dogs are not allowed inside the building but are free to use the separate seated area outside.

Main season: Saturday 6th April until Sunday 29th September 2019 from 10am to 5pm. Autumn half term: Saturday 26th October until Sunday 2nd November 2019 from 10am to 4pm. Winter season: Open on some weekends which will be advertised.
Is Croxteth Hall Lane open?
VISITOR NOTICE. Due to essential maintenance works being carried out, Croxteth Hall is currently CLOSED for casual visits. The maintenance works are set to be completed in Autumn 2022.
How did Old Swan Liverpool get its name?
It is named after a public house called the Three Swans, which served the pack-horse route along Prescot Lane (now Prescot Road) in the 18th century. The name was derived from the coat of arms of local landowners, the Walton family. The inn stood at the corner of Prescot Lane and Pettycoat Lane (now Broadgreen Road).
Is the Fir Tree pub Croxteth still open?
The Fir Tree was shut down by police after Rhys’ murder when it emerged how the pub was a den of criminality, and used as a safe haven for teenage yobs who dealt drugs inside and outside the premises.
Why is Norris Green called Norris Green?
History. Historically a part of Lancashire, Norris Green’s development was announced in late 1925 and named after the Liverpool-based Norris family. It is thought the land Norris Green was built on was donated to the city by Lord Derby, who was at the time resident at nearby Knowsley Hall.
