What’s cheaper Eurotunnel or ferry?
Generally speaking the ferry is usually slightly cheaper, but whichever option you choose, make sure to shop around for deals and book well ahead of time to get the best-value fares.
Can I use Eurotunnel without a car?
At Eurotunnel we can only allow you to travel in a vehicle – be that your own or as part of a coach trip. You cannot travel as a foot passenger, but you are able to take a bicycle. If you don’t need or want to drive your vehicle for your trip, you can travel as a foot passenger on Eurostar.
Can I take a ferry from Calais to Dover without a car?
Are passengers without a vehicle allowed on the ship? On our Dover – Calais/Dunkirk routes we are unable to accept foot passengers due to operational reasons. In order to use this service, you must have a vehicle. On Dieppe – Newhaven route you are allowed to travel as a foot passenger or with a vehicle.
Can you drive to France from UK without ferry?
You can’t drive your car all the way from England to France because there is no road connecting the two. It is easy to take your car to France by boarding a ferry or put your car on the Eurostar train and ride through the Tunnel. Tickets are sold per car and booking in advance is advised.

Can you walk on a ferry?
Foot passengers are required to walk from the Passenger Terminal to the ferry via a covered walkway. This walk is at least 300m which may not be suitable for some guests.
