The London Eye is one of London’s most popular attractions and at peak times queues are lengthy. If you just turn up on the day you will pay more for your ticket and how long you will have to wait will depend on when the next availability is and the ticket type you select.

Can we ride the London Eye?
Choose your package. The London Eye offers a variety of experiences at different prices. Standard tickets put you in a capsule with around 20 other people, where you can ride the Eye for about 30 minutes.
Can you go on the London Eye at night?
It’s especially nice to experience the nightfall, with the lights of the city, at the London Eye. To do this you should start the ride shortly after sunset (link with times below). Usually the queue times are not too long in the evening hours. The ride duration is around 30 minutes.
Do you need a time slot for London Eye?
Boarding the London Eye will involve some queuing. We do recommend that quieter times of the day to visit are usually early morning for first entry or later in the day towards last entry. During peak periods such as weekends and school holidays, guests may experience longer waiting times to board the London Eye.

We have been on it many times over the years and the London Eye views (on a clear day) are spectacular. Yes, it can be expensive, but there are often London Eye discounts (we will mention a few later in the post) and it really should be on your list of London things to do.

The London Eye is busiest between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the UK school holidays, and is quieter at the beginning and end of their opening hours, which vary throughout the year.

What happens if the London Eye breaks down?
What happens if it breaks down and stops? In that very remote instance, there are back-up diesel generators to turn the wheel. If these fails, there is very little friction in the wheel and two men can pull it round with a piece of rope.
Who can go on the London Eye?
Please note that children aged 15 years or younger must be accompanied onto the London Eye by an adult aged 18 years or older. Children aged 2 and under can board the London Eye free of charge, however must have a ticket for entry, which can be collected from the Ticket Office located opposite the London Eye.

Yes, London Eye generally closes during January for annual maintenance work. Our Annual Maintenance dates are scheduled as Monday 10th – 23rd January 2022.

Each capsule has a capacity of 25 passengers and rests on motorized mounts that function in such a way that the capsule remains upright as the wheel turns. The wheel moves so slowly—two revolutions per hour—that it need not stop for boarding or disembarkation of passengers, except for those with disabilities.
