Using a mobile payment to pay as you go is the same as using a contactless card.
You can use different mobile payments to travel on our transport services:

Do you have to register a debit card to use on the tube?
No, but if you sign up for a TfL online account and register your card, you’ll be able to view your journey and payments history, and get other added benefits. If you don’t register, you can only view 7 days’ history.
Can I use my phone to pay on Tube?
From today (18 May), customers can use Android Pay on their mobile phone to travel on TfL services, including the Tube, buses and trams, as well as most National Rail services in London, following its wider UK launch this morning.
How do you pay to get on the tube?
Pay as you go
You don’t have to work out the cost of your journey in advance. You can pay as you go using contactless (card or device), an Oyster card or a Visitor Oyster card.
Can you just tap your card on London Underground?
Touch in on a yellow card reader at the start of your journey and touch out at the end. To pay the right fare: Always use the same device or contactless card to touch in and out. For example, don’t touch in with an iPhone and touch out with an Apple Watch or contactless card.
Can you use a debit card without the card?
Fraudsters can still use your debit card even if they don’t have the card itself. They don’t even need your PIN—just your card number. If you’ve used your debit card for an off-line transaction (a transaction without your PIN), your receipt will show your full debit card number.
Can you use a card without the card?
Normally, you can’t use a credit card without restriction before it arrives, because you can’t see the full credit card number, expiration date and CVV until you have the card in hand.
Can I use my phone to pay instead of card?
On your Android phone, open the Google Pay app . Wallet. Swipe left or right to the card you want to use. Tap the card you want to use as your default contactless payment method.
Can I use my phone as a TAP card?
In the Cards section, press the add card icon at the top left. Press “Add a TAP Card on Your Phone.” Follow the prompts to add a “virtual” TAP card to your phone to use it to tap and pay. Once your “virtual” TAP card is added, it will be displayed in the Cards section.

To make a tap-to-pay transaction with a card in your Google Wallet, Google Pay should be set as your default payment app. Add a contactless payment method. Set up a screen lock. Your phone must meet the security requirements.
Is tube cheaper with contactless?
You can add money to an Oyster card or use contactless (card or device) straight away. You only pay for the journeys you make and it’s cheaper than buying a paper single or return ticket (train companies may offer special deals on some journeys).
Can you pay for tube with iPhone?
Paying for journeys on Transport for London is easier with Express Mode for Apple Pay. You no longer need to authenticate your payment with Face ID or Touch ID. Simply select a card for travel in Wallet. Then just tap your iPhone or Apple Watch on the yellow card reader and go.
How much is a day card on the tube?
Travelcard prices start at £14.40 for a central London 1 day Travelcard and go up to £70.30 for a 7 day Travelcard covering zones 1-6. Child Travelcards are approximately half these prices.

The new app enables iPhone and Android smartphone owners to use their phone to add pay as you go credit or Travelcards to their Oyster card. The credit is then available 30 minutes later when the Oyster card is tapped onto a ticket gate reader.
What happens if I only tap once for the underground?
Please wait at least 48 hours as you might receive an automatic refund: Oyster – we’ll automatically add it to your card the next time you touch in or out of a rail journey. Contactless – the refund will show on your next card statement, or we will adjust the fares charged when you next travel.

A virtual debit card can be used just like you would use a physical bank card. In addition to online purchases, you can use a virtual card for contactless payments in stores by adding it to Apple Pay or Google Pay. Some even allow you to withdraw money from ATMs.
Can I manually enter my card?
If a customer’s card isn’t being read properly though a dip, swipe, or tap method, you can still process credit card transaction by manually entering the card details through the physical terminal or virtual terminal also know as a payment gateway. As a merchant, you’ll still be able to get paid for the transaction.
