What is the maximum Oyster charge per day?
If you make 3 journeys, £7.50 is deducted. For your 4th journey, £0.20 is deducted. You have reached the ‘daily cap’ and all other journeys until 4.30am the following morning are free. £2.30 of Pay as you go credit will remain on your Oyster card.
What is the maximum you can top up an Oyster card?
A Visitor Oyster card costs £5 (plus postage) and is pre-loaded with pay as you go credit for you to spend on travel. You can choose how much credit to add to your card: £10, £15, £20, £25, £30, £35, £40 or £50. The credit on your card never expires – it stays there until you use it.

What does daily cap mean?
What is the DAILY CAP? Capping is a feature of pay as you go which allows you to make a number of journeys in a single day but limits the amount you pay for your travel.
What happens if you tap oyster twice?
It’s to stop people gaming the system. If you tap in at a station, you can’t pass your oyster card back to your mate behind, the system won’t accept two consecutive tap ins. However, it WILL accept them if the two are broken up by a tap out. So to discourage that, there’s a hefty fee involved with doing so.
What happens if you only tap your oyster once?

When you use contactless or Oyster to pay as you go, there is a maximum amount of time that you can spend making a single journey on Tube, DLR, London Overground, Elizabeth line and National Rail. If you spend longer than the maximum journey time for your journey, you could be charged 2 maximum fares.

Is Oyster cheaper than tapping card?
A contactless visitor Oyster card is excellent for pay as you go travel as fares are capped. This means this may cost less than a physical ticket. However, a standard contactless card will offer the same benefits. However, the visitor Oyster card is perhaps best used by tourists from foreign countries.
Do Oyster cards work after being washed?
If it’s just been washed then it should be fine. Tumble drying tends to be more risky. If it is dodgy then take it to an Underground station and they can arrange a swap, transfering the deposit and unused credit.
Is an Oyster card worth it for 3 days?
If you’re visiting London for 3 days or less, the best option is to get the Oyster Card, as it is the most cost-effective system. For stays of over 4 days, we recommend getting the 7-day Travelcard, since it is cheaper than getting 7 x 24-hour travelcards.
Can 3 people use one Oyster card?
Children under the age of 11 can travel on all London transport networks for free (including the Underground, TfL Rail, and buses), provided they are with an adult who has a valid Oyster Card, Travelcard or single-ride ticket. Only one person can use one card.
