Can train tickets be used on any train?
Tickets that have been purchased with an “any available route” option can be used with any train company that operates between the stations you wish to travel. Any time tickets are the most flexible and can be used on any train on the chosen day of departure for the journey you have booked.
What happens if I dont tap out National Rail?
Always Touch In & Out
If you don’t touch in and out on every journey you make we don’t know where you have travelled, so we can’t charge the right fare. If this happens your journey is “incomplete” and you could be charged a maximum fare.
Does bus and tram pass cover trains?
You can use them in different travel zones depending on the ticket. You can also use them on buses, trains or trams run by any company.
Does a travel card cover trams?
A Travelcard (in the zones it’s valid for) gives you unlimited travel at any time on bus, Tube, Tram, DLR, London Overground, Elizabeth line and National Rail services in London. You can use it on all buses, and if valid in zones 3, 4, 5 or 6, on all trams. Travelcards can start on any day.
Can I use my NEC card on Edinburgh trams?
The NEC card entitles you to free bus travel across Scotland, and also on trams if your card was issued by the City of Edinburgh Council.
Can you use national rail tickets on London Underground?
Tickets can only be used on National Rail services.
Can you use Northern Rail tickets on transpennine?
Your connecting ticket will allow you to travel on any applicable Northern, CrossCountry or Transpennine Express service between your origin and connecting stations.
Can I board a train from different station?
Boarding station can be changed before 24 hours of the scheduled departure of train. Boarding point change is not allowed if ticket is seized. Boarding point change is not allowed for the PNRs with VIKALP option. Online boarding point change is not allowed for I-Ticket.
Do you have to tap out with trams?
Always touch in on a yellow card reader at the start of your journey and touch out at the end to pay the right fare. (On a bus or tram you only need to touch in.)
What happens if I forget to tap out tram?
Every time you touch-in, you need to touch-out at your destination stop, to complete that journey. If you fail to touch-out at your destination stop, with the same card or device, we won’t know what journey(s) you made: your journey will be incomplete (you have up to 2 hours to complete a single journey)
What happens if I only tap once for the underground?
Please wait at least 48 hours as you might receive an automatic refund: Oyster – we’ll automatically add it to your card the next time you touch in or out of a rail journey. Contactless – the refund will show on your next card statement, or we will adjust the fares charged when you next travel.
Is tram and train are same?

Can I use my bus pass on Metrolink?
Your pass also entitles you to add tram and train to your pass, for an annual charge. This gives you unlimited off-peak travel on Metrolink and trains within Greater Manchester.
