Manchester is by far rhe best for nightlife, restaurants, clubs, pubs etc. The city centre is also impressive with probably the best shopping outside of London. I lived in Liverpool for many years and consider it to be poor when it comes to dining. Away from the city centre there is little of interest for a visitor.
