Are Fire Pits Allowed In The New Forest?

Because of the danger of fires in the forest, open fires are not allowed on-site. Any barbecues used on our sites should be specifically designed and used only for the purpose of cooking food (i.e not firepits).

Where are the snakes in the New Forest?

If you want to see a snake or lizard in its natural environment, try looking on south-facing slopes, on logs, along the edge of scrub and in areas with mature heather. All of the native reptile species can be viewed at Forestry England’s New Forest Reptile Centre, near Lyndhurst.

Can you put a campfire in your house the forest?

Gameplay. The fireplace is actually only a decoration. You can place a Basic Fire or Fire Pit inside it to give it a function. You can then light it to make your home feel cozy.

There are lots of laybys and carparks along the road, however, wild camping is illegal in the New Forest. There are lots of campsites in the New Forest, and several pubs that will let you park a campervan overnight if you are eating in the pub.

So can neighbours complain about BBQ-ing? If your barbeque is producing lots of smoke and it’s affecting your neighbours, they are within their rights to make a complaint on the grounds that the smoke is a statutory nuisance.

Can you put a barbecue next to a fence?

Ensure your BBQ is positioned away from any trees, fences or anything else that could be flammable. Ensure there is adequate clear space around your barbecue to reduce the risk of fires spreading.

What are the rules for garden fires?

Burn only dry garden waste, and never other materials such as domestic waste, painted items, plastics, furniture, textiles, or wet garden waste including leaves. Never use accelerants (for example – petrol) to start your fire.
