Can adults use hostels?
Many people think of staying in hostels as an option specifically for young travelers. But as someone who travels longterm, on a budget, I can tell you it’s an option you may consider, and even enjoy at any stage of life.
Is there an age limit on hostels?
Some hostels have age restrictions. In most countries, 18 years old is the minimum age to book accommodation as the primary guest (secondary guests can be younger than 18 if the primary guest is older than 18). In some other countries (and in parts of the US), the minimum age to book is 21 years old.
Is there an age limit for youth hostels in Europe?
Most hostels require that guests be at least 18 years old or they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian/chaperone. With the exception of the Bavarian region of Germany, there are no upper age restrictions at most hostels.

You’ll share your room with up to 20 people, many of whom may not care that they have roommates who desire privacy. Some hostels do offer private single and double rooms, but these are usually in high demand, so may not be available during your stay.
How long can council keep family in hostel?

If you have children or you’re pregnant, you shouldn’t usually have to stay in a hostel or bed and breakfast for more than 6 weeks. If you’re there for longer than this, you should ask the council to move you because it’s no longer suitable.
