Is D in a class passing?

What is a failing grade?

Is a D passing at UCD?

Is C still passing?
In undergrad, technically anything that is above an F is passing. However, major courses will typically require above a C and you must maintain above a C average (2.0) overall to graduate. While a “C” is a passing grade at most colleges and universities, it is also a warning that you better get your act together.
Do universities accept E grades?
Yes, there are universities which will accept 3 Es and sometimes 2 Es. They tend to be the least famous ones, and not for subjects with the highest competition for places. Grade E is worth 16 points, so 3 Es are 48 points.

However you can’t retake specific modules – you would have to re-take the whole exam for the year. You’ll need to wait a year to re-sit any exams as A-levels and AS-levels are only assessed by exam in the spring.
