Single and return fares are available on the bus and paid to the driver. We recommend payment is made by contactless payment cards wherever possible, but cash is accepted also.
Do Slough buses take contactless?

How do you pay for bus fare in UK?
You can travel using pay as you go with contactless (card or device) or your Oyster card. You can also travel using your Oyster card with a 7 Day, Monthly and Annual Bus & Tram Pass.
Can I use debit card to tap bus?
Simply tap your contactless bank card (e.g. credit or debit card) or mobile device at the MRT fare gates or card reader on buses as you would usually do with your current travel card.

When did TfL buses stop taking cash?
Transport for London (TfL) has today announced that it is to stop accepting cash fares on London buses from summer this year. Cash fares make up one per cent of bus journeys – down from around 25 per cent a decade ago.
When did buses go cashless?

The removal of cash fares will deliver £130m savings to 2022/23 and this will be reinvested in improving transport in the capital. Cash fares will not be accepted from 04:30 on Sunday 6 July, the start of TfL’s next fare charging period.
Can I use TfL with no money?
You may be able to complete your journey, but your card will then be temporarily stopped and you won’t be able to use it to make any further journeys until the outstanding amount is paid to TfL. However, you should still be able to use your card with other retailers.
Is Slough in a TfL zone?
Slough is outside the London travel zones. If you are traveling to or from Slough by train and you have a London travel card (not Oyster), then you can get a ticket from the boundary of your paid for zone to Slough.

What happens if you only tap out not in?
If you don’t touch in and out, we can’t tell where you’ve travelled from or to, so your journey will be incomplete. Maximum fares don’t count towards capping. If you don’t touch in, you may be charged a penalty fare.
