Can you tap contactless on bus?
No problem! With contactless you don’t need to worry about finding change to pay for your bus ticket. It’s secure – contactless payments have the same level of protection as Chip and Pin payments.
Do Slough buses take cash?
Single and return fares are available on the bus and paid to the driver. We recommend payment is made by contactless payment cards wherever possible, but cash is accepted also.

What happens if I forget to tap off the bus?
What happens if I forget to tap off? You will be charged the single fare to the end of the route, so always remember to tap off in order to pay the correct fare.
What happens if you tap in but dont tap out?
Remember, you need a different card or device for each person travelling. If you touch-in but don’t touch-out at your destination stop, with the same card or device, we won’t know what journey you made. If this happens, you’ll automatically pay the incomplete journey fare.
Can you use contactless from Paddington to Slough?
Contactless pay as you go can now be used on both GWR and TfL Rail services between Reading and London Paddington. Now there’s no need to top up or queue for tickets at the station.
Can I use my Oyster card to get to Slough?
Slough is outside the London travel zones. If you are traveling to or from Slough by train and you have a London travel card (not Oyster), then you can get a ticket from the boundary of your paid for zone to Slough.

Why doesnt my contactless work on the bus?
Some of the reasons why a card may not work include: The card is outside of the validity dates i.e. expired. The card is not a contactless card. The card is not accepted e.g. American Express.

Can I use contactless instead of oyster?

The contactless payment is performed exactly the same way as with an Oyster card. Just tap the yellow card reader using a contactless card at the start and end of your journey. Much like Oyster cards, contactless cards also have a daily cap and monthly cap for travel fees.
What happens if you tap in twice?
If you tap in at a station, you can’t pass your oyster card back to your mate behind, the system won’t accept two consecutive tap ins. However, it WILL accept them if the two are broken up by a tap out. So to discourage that, there’s a hefty fee involved with doing so.
Why did TFL charge me 10p?
When you make journeys with Transport for London, you will be initially charged a 10p authorisation on your card. This is because the total amount owed for your travel is unknown at that moment.

If you are not sure where to get off it is OK to ask the driver to tell you, although most buses have indicator boards,some don’t and sometimes they are not working.

Do you need a PIN when you tap?
Any transaction where you insert your card into the card machine or device will need a PIN to authorise it. If you use your contactless activated card to tap the card machine to pay for transactions below R500, then there’s no PIN required.
