Are dogs allowed at Whitby?
Whitby has beaches on both sides of the River Esk. On the east side is the smaller Tate Hill, a sheltered sandy beach that allows dogs all year round. On the other side of West Pier is West Cliff, a larger sandy beach with colourful beach huts, deckchair and windbreak hire, a children’s paddling pool and donkey rides.

Are dogs allowed on buses in Whitby?
The fare paid to travel on the bus also covers parking and use of facilities. Tickets are purchased on the bus from the driver. Dogs can travel on the bus at the discretion of the bus driver. There is no extra charge for dogs.
Are dogs allowed in trenchers Whitby?

Can you take dogs on the Pickering to Whitby steam train?
One great day out to be had with your dog is a trip on a steam train from Pickering to the popular seaside town of Whitby, the trains are dog friendly (except for the dining trains) but there is a small charge for your pooch to travel.

Nearest car park: the large West Cliff car park is near the Whitby Leisure Centre. Seasonal restrictions: dogs are not allowed from the West Pier to the East side of the beach steps (next to the Western end of the beach chalets) from the beginning of May to the end of September.

Can you take dogs on North Yorkshire Moors Railway?
Dogs are welcome on all our trains except Dining trains and some Special Events (see individual event pages for restrictions) provided they are kept off the seats and tables. A dog ticket is £3.00 (Free if you are a Member) and have the same validity as the owner’s ticket.
Can dogs ride VIA Rail?
VIA Rail allows dogs and cats to travel in cars with their owners as long as the animals are small enough to fit comfortably in a carrier that meets our carrier standards.
