Is the York library free?
The City of York public library service includes the central lending and reference libraries in Museum Street, and several local branch libraries. Anyone who lives, works or is studying in York can join the library. It is free to join and most services are free.
Does the New York Public Library cost money?

Are libraries actually free?
They are not free. Most taxpayers do not understand how much public libraries pay in order to provide services. Paper books can be cheap, as can DVDs, but databases and eBooks are very expensive and are becoming increasingly more expensive.
Can I read a book in the library?
The Library is there for you to do whatever you feel the need to do. I frequently go to the library to study, read.
What can you not do in a library?
You should not make unnecessary noises, disturb other library users, damage library materials, or make unnecessary noises. Similar to the previous, we should plan ahead, follow library signs and ask for help when using computers. We should also avoid writing in library books.
Can I sleep in library overnight?
Never lend your card to anyone else or hold the door open for someone you don’t know. Although the Library is open 24/7, please take regular breaks and go home to get enough sleep. Sleeping in the Library is not permitted and Security staff will ask you to leave.
Why is sleeping not allowed in libraries?
We don’t allow sleeping because there is no easy way, short of waking people up, whether they are asleep or passed out. We have had drug overdose cases on multiple occasions; some were fatal. The library is not designed for sleeping. If it becomes allowed it will also morph into a homeless shelter.
Can the public use NYU library?
